Navigate the Events tab

From the Events tab, you can see conventions, plan local games and meetups, and see all the events you've previously attended. Let's break down the five filters in the Events tab.

  1. When

The default is to show you upcoming games but you can adjust the list to show you games and events from the past or that are happening in a specific time frame.

    1. Upcoming: See all the upcoming events happening near you.
    2. Past: This view is most useful for finding a game you’ve just finished playing as it will only stay on the Upcoming page for 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. You might want to find the game you just played because you can easily log the play from there. It’s especially handy if you haven’t become friends with all the other players yet because you don’t have to search for them.
    3. Custom: You can enter a date range. This is especially useful for travelling when used in conjunction with the Where filter. You can see what events will be happening in the city you’re traveling to while you’re there.

  1. Where

By default, your results will be from the city you’ve set as yours, so you’ll see games that are in your local area and large events (like conventions) within a short plane ride.

You can change the city you’re browsing by tapping on Where. You might want to change your city if you’ll be traveling so you can plan games and events for when you’re away.

If you want to then check out a different city, tap Where again and Remove (X) your current selection then tap Where and enter your new city.

If you have the box above the search bar ticked, the city you search will either be saved or updated to your profile as your city (this will affect your default results on the events page).

Choose how far you’re willing to travel with the distance bar.

  2. Events

This is where you'll see all the conventions and larger gaming events that are using Aftergame within a short distance of your current city and all the smaller gaming events (like meetups and game nights) in your local area.

  3. Games

A list of all the public games being planned in your area. We base this off the city you select as your Current City so changing your Where filter will change what you see on that list.

You can open a game to see more detail about it, including average game length, who’s already going, and the location. If it’s at a private space like someone’s house, you will only see the suburb or area and the host will give you more specifics when you join the game.

Tapping on the game will also give you access to the chat where people may be discussing anything from what to bring for snacks to changing the time or location.

    1. Filters

You can filter the local games list similarly to how you can filter the games happening at a convention.

      1. Attendance: Choose if you want to see games you’re hosting, going to, invited to, or not going to.
      2. Playing time: Find games that fit your play style or social needs.
      3. Domain: There are four domains on Aftergame: board games, role playing games, trading card games, and war games. You can choose what you see.
      4. Complexity: You can choose the weight of the game you want to play. Check multiple boxes if you want to see a range.

You can search for specific events from any search bar that says Search Aftergame, whether or not you’re in the Events tab.
